OXHORT offers a complete design & build service to ensure gardens are constructed and finished to the highest standard. We firmly believe the process of designing a garden is a partnership between designer & client and, in our experience, the more collaborative the engagement, the better the outcome. So we very much welcome and actively encourage the engaged client design input and the ongoing dialogue throughout the project lifecycle.

With every project we, at OXHORT, aim to create individual and personalised spaces for clients to enjoy spending time in the great outdoors and connecting with nature.

Construction is carried out by our internal team or through trusted contractors and craftsmen. Designs are detailed and fully annotated. Whilst there is a proven process of project flows & checkpoints, our team can demonstrate flexibility so we are happy to chat through customised offerings to meet individual needs or specific requirements. BRIEF

Naturally, a client’s individual requirements will drive initial early discussions. David can offer advice & outline OXHORT's offering by expanding on the design & construction service. Importantly, a review of a client's aspirations at an onsite meeting will quickly determine what is probably achievable within the space given the availability of even the most rudimentary budget number!

SURVEY

Client 2

OXHORT will measure & survey all but the very largest of gardens, to ensure a thorough understanding of the space, recording all measurements, levels and assessing the aspect and environmental considerations.

The site survey forms the basis of the design. Occasionally, depending on the complexity /size of the site, a professional surveying company may be instructed.

CONCEPT PLAN

  • A draft design, based on the client aspirations, practical considerations reference to property style and aspect will be created. Based on the survey evidence, this is usually accompanied by supporting images as a 'mood board'  to fully help the client understand the concept. Proposed materials and details concerning features for inclusion will be presented for review and discussion

  • Master Plan
On approval of Draft Plan the Master Plan is produced. A scale plan in colour showing the layout of the new garden in great detail, it is fully annotated with all features and hard landscaping materials shown.

  • Specification Document
A written document detailing everything required to bring the design to fruition. This is used in conjunction with the master plan when pricing and building the garden.

Construction & Setting Out Plan Drawings
Depending on the proposed design, it may be necessary to provide construction drawings for certain build elements such as bespoke timber or metal work etc.. Working dimension drawings may also be required to assist a contractor in setting out the plan on the ground prior to build commencement
