David MacElvogue
David is a professional, qualified garden designer and lead constructor of a multi-award winning Show Garden.
A member of the Society of Garden Designers, having retired from a successful career in trading floor & banking technology in the City of London, David has been fortunate to be able to pursue a career that allows him to indulge his inner plantsman!
Graduating from the historically renowned and prestigious Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh (RBGE), achieving a Diploma in Garden Design with distinction, David won the 2018-19 year RBGE Academic Award.
David was additionally honoured to be asked to present the 2019 RBGE Valedictorian Speech by the Regius Keeper, the speech was delivered, on behalf of the institution to James Alexander-Sinclair, one-third of 'Three Men Went to Mow' (alongside Cleve West & Joe Swift) as the guest-of-honour.
The OXHort design practice offers a number of diverse horticultural specialisms including designing gardens acceptable within the curtilage of listed buildings, new-builds, low-allergy gardens, health & well-being designs, low maintenance gardens and requests for multi-functional space. Happily, OXHort are seeing an increased interest in gardens for wildlife & pollinators, sensory gardens, green roof systems, reduced water usage and, conversely, flood-tolerant garden designs.
OXHort have also been increasingly consulted on the reinvigorating and re-working of mature gardens. in partnership, OXHort have been pleased to install several sizeable living walls; with installer accreditation from market leader Scotscape. OXHort also have LANTRA dry stone walling experience with the Cotswold Conservation Board.
